The Holy City (Charleston, SC) has recently snatched top spots by readers of Southern Living magazine, making it again one of the most popular tourist cities in the United States. Over 47,000 readers voted for Charleston as follows:

  • No. 2 shopping destination, coming in behind Atlanta, and ahead of Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
  • Top honors as "Favorite Southern City" beating out every other Southern city, including Savannah and Atlanta
  • Having the most delicious seafood, Hymans Seafood on Meeting Street took top honors and third place, Hanks Seafood on Hayne Street (I’ve eaten at both and I totally agree!)
  • Magnolias restaurant on East Bay St took second place for the "Splurge Restaurant" category
